GHK-Cu

Supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed sterile vial. Requires reconstitution with bacteriostatic water prior to use. Each vial contains 50mg of GHK-Cu at ≥99% purity. Note: reconstituted solutions will appear slightly blue — this is characteristic of copper-peptide complexes and indicates proper copper binding.

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-peptide complex found in human plasma, saliva, and urine, formed by the tripeptide Glycine-Histidine-Lysine (GHK) bound to a copper ion. The histidine imidazole ring binds copper ions with high affinity, forming a stable complex essential for its biological activity. It has been extensively researched and is known to promote wound healing and tissue remodelling, stimulate collagen and fibroblast activity, support angiogenesis and blood vessel formation, inhibit free radical damage as a powerful antioxidant, and influence the expression of over 4,000 genes involved in skin health, DNA repair, and immune function.

Research Background

First identified in human plasma in the 1970s, GHK-Cu has been extensively studied for its effects on wound healing, tissue remodelling, and gene expression. Research has documented that GHK-Cu can influence the expression of over 4,000 genes, including those involved in antioxidant responses, DNA repair, and extracellular matrix remodelling. Studies have examined its effects on collagen synthesis, glycosaminoglycan production, and fibroblast function in skin models, as well as its influence on angiogenesis and blood vessel formation. The copper ion serves as a cofactor for various enzymatic processes, making the intact copper-peptide complex essential for its full range of studied biological activity.
